if you know me at all i’ve probably shown you this picture and i’ve probably told you about how my mom works on the Oscars statuette …
but that is one of the least interesting things she works on, and the company she works for* made a booklet of the different patinas and finishes they do
*(which is now called UAP and in a different town but was here in Beacon and called Tallix when she started there in the early 90s)
and now the friend …
this is my friend (and former coworker) Lori as we assembled a piece of hers for a local art event of site specific performances and sculptures here in Beacon. in addition to putting together her main piece on the pebbly shore of the Hudson, we also worked together to try and build a piece out of some packing peanuts. starting with columns made by spraying the peanuts with water and fusing them together we tried to build something between the trees on the path leading to her main piece
we’d hoped to create an arch over the path but the small sections she’d pre-built couldn’t span the gap and so we pivoted to using them to connect two nearby trees …
